Speaking at RootsTech London

By Cathie

June 7, 2019

I am thrilled to have been selected as a speaker at RootsTech London in October, 2019.  I am looking forward to meeting family historians from across the world at this wonderful event.  My session is at 9am on Saturday morning, the 26 October, and I am speaking about ways and means of locating British ancestral records in India.  My grandfather and his two siblings were born there in the 1860s, to a Scottish father and a mother who was born in India but whose father was also Scottish.  The children were sent back to Scotland to live with their grandparents where they were educated.  My grandfather then emigrated to Australia with his uncle, aunt and cousins while his brother and sister returned to India. My great uncle became the Director of the Indo-European Telegraph Department in Persia (Iran) and died there in 1921. My great aunt married twice in India and returned to live in England with her second husband. She died there in 1951, outliving both her brothers by 30 years.
